Waterfalls in Israel Israel has meager natural water sources, but also a number of unpretentious, beautiful waterfalls. When compared with waterfalls around the world, those in Israel are no more than a gentle trickle of water falling from rocky terraces, but they are vibrant and heartwarming, and each attracts many visitors. The highest waterfall in Israel is in the Kedem Stream, a seasonal stream in the Judean Desert that only flows during short periods of flooding. When flooded, the Kedem Stream waterfall falls from a height of 330 meters. David Waterfall David Waterfall, part of the David River, is located in the Ein Gedi Nature Reserve and is 30 meters high. It is a perennial river, flowing at differing strengths throughout the year. The water forms a large pool and flows on through the David River ravine. The waterfall rages during winter flooding. Sometimes this increased flow brings sediment that fills and the pool below and makes it smaller while at other times the water washes away sediment, actually making the pool deeper. Many unique plants grow in the constant humidity around the waterfall and its tributaries, such as Salvadora persica, Moringa peregrina, Desert date, Adiantum capillus ferns and more. The water and lush vegetation support a large herd of ibex, rock hyraxes, Tristram’s starlings and many other animals. This is the largest oasis in Israel and thanks to its beauty and accessibility, it is the most popular hiking destination in the Judean Desert. To all Philatelic items issued on November 2021
