
Buying a card
In order to buy a smartcard, go to any of the postal branches throughout Israel. If you are a resident of Israel, bring your ID card and cash in shekels, or a magnetic bank card that can be used for withdrawing cash at some postal branches.
If you are a foreign resident, you must present your valid passport, an additional identification document showing your photograph, and cash in shekels.
Please be advised that only customers whom are 18 years old or older can purchase the card. If you are under 18 and want to buy a card you can ask a relative to buy one and add you as the beneficiary on the card. This way you can easily use it. Please be informed that some specific procedures may be performed by the card holder alone.
Loading the card
It is possible to reload your card many times as long as it is valid. The maximum balance on the card can not exceed 5000 Euros or equivalent (total of both currencies).
The minimal amount to load is 50 Euros/ GBP.
There are two options for reloading the card:

cash payment in postal branches

money transfers from your personal account.

The name of the card that appears under the card number (begins with 200)
Want to load your card? It's simple and easy!
Go to your nearest postal branch with your card, means of identification, and cash in shekels. The clerk will load your card for you. Soon it will be possible to load your card by money transfer from your personal account..
It isn't necessary for the cardholder to come to the postal branch in order to reload the card. It can also be reloaded by a representative of the cardholder.
For a non-cardholder to reload the card:
You must come to the postal branch with at least two of the following three items:

The ID number of the card purchaser

The final four digits of the card
-
The name of the card that appears after the POSTIL label
In order to reload a card, you may only use cash (shekels), or a magnetic bank card by means of which cash can be withdrawn in some postal branches.
Loading the card involves paying a fee of 0.8% of the amount loaded.
Reload your card at the convenience of your home via bank transfer
Now you can reload your card by bank transfer. All you need to do is make a money transfer from your bank account.

It is possible to reload your card via the internet, 24 hours a day directly from the bank website where your Israeli Shekels account is handled.

Every card (or pair of cards) has been allocated a unique account number in the Postal Bank. Enter your bank account via the internet and make a money transfer directly to your card.

If you do not know your account number please call our foreign currency call center at 076-8871133 to find out your unique account number for reloading your card.

The card will be loaded with the amount transferred in NIS to the default currency that is set on the card (Euro or GBP) after deducting the fee of 0.8% from the amount transferred. (Minimum fee charge 7 NIS).

The maximum daily transfer amount is 6,000 NIS; the transfer may be made in NIS only.

The minimum reload amount is 50€/₤ equivalent in NIS. According to the default currency set on the card.

The card will be reloaded on the business day following the transfer, in accordance with the foreign currency rate when loading the money to the card.

At the time of purchase the card's default currency is set to Euro and this is the currency that the card will be reload with. To load GBP to the card you will need to change the default currency. The default currency is set on the "my account" site. Any NIS sent for reload will be exchanged to the default currency. Make sure the correct default currency is in place before transferring the money!

It is not possible to change the default currency on the same business day the card will be loaded. In addition it is not possible to reload both currencies on the same business day.

The responsibility for checking the default currency of the card before performing the money transfer lays solely on the person sending the reload.
Limitations: The Israel Postal Bank is entitled to return a money transfer to the original bank if the amount transferred exceeds the card limitations.
