Card Security
Unfortunately, cases of identity theft and fraud are all too common today. We are aware of this threat and your related concerns. That is why fraud prevention is of supreme importance to us. Here are some tips to help you avoid fraud.
Basic actions
-
You are asked to verify that the small printout showing the secret code that you receive is intact and complete before you open it, in order to ensure the confidentiality of the secret code.
-
We recommend to memorize the pin code immediately after you received your card. After you remember it destroy it, to avoid exposing the pin code.
-
Never keep the secret code printout together with the card; from the moment you receive your prepaid card, it is ready for operation and can be used for transactions.
-
Sign the back of the card immediately upon receiving it.
-
Check your transactions on a regular basis and report any unusual activity immediately.
-
Upon printing a record of transactions from the Internet, guard it well, and shred it when you are finished using it.
-
Never give your personal details to someone who calls you claiming to be a representative of a well‑known company.
-
Do not give your details in response to an email message you receive from an address you do not recognize.
-
Be wary of anyone requesting common identifying details, such as: mother's maiden name, date of birth, or information regarding your place of work.
-
Never give out your secret code, not even to someone claiming he is a representative of the company that issued the card.
-
Never let anything distract you when you are using an ATM or carrying out a transaction with the card. It could be that someone is trying to discover your card's secret code.
Avoiding ATM fraud
-
Never write down your secret code, or keep it together with your card. Be cautious when using your card, and take care that:
-
The ATM has not been damaged.
-
No one can see you input your secret code.
-
Your card and cash are hidden and safe before you move away from the ATM.
-
Keep any printed document and destroy it at a later time.
-
If your card is "swallowed" by the ATM, please contact the hotline to receive assistance.
Forgery and fraud
"Easy come, easy go." Always keep your card in sight when making a purchase or it may get skimmed .
"Scanning" happens when the information on the magnetic strip is copied electronically to another card, which allows forgers to spend/steal the money in your card. This mainly happens at gas stations, in restaurants and bars, and at ATMs.
Although your card is secured by the safety chip - a copy of the card can not be used without the chip imbedded on it.
Don't get caught in the net!
It is extremely important that, when you use your card on the Internet, it is with a secure browser. Make sure to use a well-known browser, which will warn you whether the website you are visiting is secure or non‑secure.
Secure browsers encrypt your personal information before sending it, so that no one else can read it. Make sure that you have up-to-date anti-virus software on your computer. A firewall can also help protect your computer.
To buy or not to buy
Know who you are doing business with. Only use well-known companies, and type in their Internet address yourself. Do not give your details as a response to an email message that you do not recognize, and if a site gives you the option of using a secure channel, use it.
In the same way that you keep receipts in case you want to return or exchange a product, you should keep proof of all your transactions. Print and keep a copy of the order form and your order confirmation.
"Phishing"
"Phishing" is an attempt by criminals to "phish" your card, account or personal details. "Phishing" attempts come in the form of email messages that look as if they were sent by your bank or your credit card issuer, and pretend to be dealing with your security. They then tell you to click a link that leads you to a fictitious site, which asks you to input your details in order to enter your account. The website is programmed to save all of the information you input.
If we should contact you by email, we will never ask you to enter a link in which you need to input your personal details and password. If you have any doubt whatsoever regarding the authenticity of the email sent to you, please contact us by phone for further clarification.
Remember, if you are requested to input your secret code in a website, together with the details of your credit card, this is probably a scam, and you should close the browser immediately.
PHARMING
"Pharming" employs the same type of tricks as Phishing to lure you to a site address, but uses hidden software to redirect you from real websites to the fraudulent ones. It hijacks trusted brands of well-known banks, online retailers and card issuing companies and convinces you to enter your personal details.
Remember, if you are asked to type your PIN into a website along with your Card details, it is probably fraudulent. Close the browser and contact Card Service Center immediately.
