Waterfalls in Israel Israel has meager natural water sources, but also a number of unpretentious, beautiful waterfalls. When compared with waterfalls around the world, those in Israel are no more than a gentle trickle of water falling from rocky terraces, but they are vibrant and heartwarming, and each attracts many visitors. The highest waterfall in Israel is in the Kedem Stream, a seasonal stream in the Judean Desert that only flows during short periods of flooding. When flooded, the Kedem Stream waterfall falls from a height of 330 meters. Banyas Waterfall Banyas Waterfall is located in the Nahal Hermon Nature Reserve and it is 10 meters high. It has the strongest flow of all Israel’s waterfalls, crashing down into a beautiful pool surrounded by thick vegetation. A wooden path, bridges and observation points allow visitors to enjoy this Mediterranean forest, with water rushing through its rocky ravine and from the impressive waterfall that splashes and cools them as they pass nearby. Many birds live in the vegetation around the river, and towards evening their night calls ring out. Capoeta damascina fish swim in small pools; wild boars, mongooses and porcupines hide in the thickets; and even a rare otter peeks out from the cool water.
