The Standards Institution of Israel is celebrating 100 years since its founding. It is an important and long-established institution known for its high quality and professionalism, and plays a central role in Israel’s economy. The Institution’s work is intertwined in all aspects of life – personal, public and business – as it serves the State by virtue of the Law of Standards (1953) to ensure the safety and quality of products and services, public health and quality of the environment for all Israeli citizens. The Standards Institution of Israel employs experts in diverse fields. These experts possess unique knowledge and are at the forefront of technology in many areas, such as blockchain, biometry, autonomous vehicles, information security and cyber, technologies for handling the water crisis, smart transportation, medical equipment, fintech, energy and more. International cooperation, mutual recognition and adapting standards to similar technologies in other countries (by adopting international and European standards) contribute to reducing technical barriers for trade and ease the importation of products into Israel.
