The simplest way to send an item up to 2 kg (4.4 lbs) to an address abroad is to send it as a letter.
The letter can be sent either via air or surface mail.
Surface mail is less expensive than air mail; air mail is faster.

Registered Mail: The sender receives a confirmation receipt that the the letter was sent and the addressee must sign when taking delivery. |

Express Mail (Special Delivery): This service speeds up delivery. After the letter has reached the destination country it is delivered by messenger to the addressee. |

Confirmation of Delivery: The addressee signs a card upon taking delivery of the letter and the card is returned to the sender via air mail. |
Under certain conditions the sender can request that the letter be returned.
Note: If the contents of the letter are subject to customs inspection, the sender must note the contents on a special green label available at the post office. The label must be attached to the outside of the envelope. |
