The Israel Postal Authority issued a commemorative postage stamp dedicated to Pope John Paul II on May 18 2005, the date that would have been the Pope's 85th birthday. The stamp shows Pope John Paul at the Western Wall during his visit to Jerusalem in 2000. It bears the Pope's prayer for peace in the Holy Land, expressed during the visit: "May peace be God's gift to the land He chose as His own."
