The Communications and Message Transmission Services (”Shoham”) is a business line which specializes in the development of telecom and message handling services, information and call center services, electronic and hybrid services, and projects management.
Most services are offered 24 hours a day through the year.
Shoham offers, the following services:
* Messages and mail services via the Internet - Doar-Tech service no. 1
* Volume mail services ( including printing, wrapping and dispatching )
* Sending of messages to Email addresses - Doar-Tech service no. 2
* Ordering products and services via the Internet - Virtual Post office service
* Domestic and International telegram, telex and fax services - via 171 hotline, fax, Internet and postal units
* Information services, such as The State Registrar of Companies

On-line Services via Internet
Shoham Center provides various services via the Internet, namely:
* Sending telegrams, ordinary and registered letters (domestic and international) via the Internet
* Sending messages or letters (in hard copy or dictated to our 171 hotline) for delivery to an Email address
* Purchasing products and services via the Internet and the telephone.
* Renewal of ”follow-me” service to a new address via the Internet and the telephone.
Telegram Services
The Shoham center offers a variety of telegram services, including:
* Regular telegrams
* Illustrated telegrams with standard text
* Illustrated telegrams in Arabic
* Telegrams for delayed delivery
By dialing the Israel Postal Authority’s 171 hotline, a customer can send a telegram for any occasion 24 hours a day from anywhere in Israel. Moreover, a customer can prepare a distribution list and fix delivery dates and the Shoham computer will send greeting telegrams to the specified addresses on the specified dates.
Telegram Services, 2000
The number of domestic and international telegrams sent in 2000 was 320,000 compared to 332,000 in 1999 (a decrease of 4%).
The number of domestic telegrams in 2000 was 308,000 (as in 1999) of which 301,000 were sent via the 171 hotline.
The number of telegrams sent abroad in 2000 was 12,000.

Domestic Facsimile Services

The facsimile service enables customers to promptly send exact copies of various types of documents. Documents are faxed from one postal branch to another, or directly to the addressee’s facsimile machine.
The Shoham center specializes in transmitting facsimile messages to mailing lists containing thousands of destinations (multi-fax).
Recently a smart interface allows our subscribers to send their documents directly from their PC.
The number of domestic fax pages sent in 2000 was 1, 101,000 compared to 1,227,000 in 1999 (a decrease of 10%).
74% of the pages sent inland in 2000 were directed through Shoham.

International Facsimile Services
This service enables customers to send and receive copies of various documents between Israel and other countries. Two types of services are offered: ”Postfax” and ”Telefax”.
Postfax Service: The document is submitted for transmission at a postal branch or Shoham center, and transmitted to a post office in the destination country, where the addressee may receive it via express mail, facsimile or may pick it up at the post office following telephone notification of its arrival.
Incoming documents from other countries received at a post office in Israel, are delivered to the addressee by one of the methods described above.
”Postfax” service is available between Israel and 44 countries.
Telefax Service: The document is transmitted directly from the post office to the addressee’s private facsimile machine abroad.
”Multifax” Service: This service enables a customer to distribute a fax message to thousands of addressees in Israel and abroad.
In 2000, a total of 33,000 pages were sent abroad, compared to 78,000 in 1999 (a decrease of 58%).
56% of the pages sent abroad in 2000 were directed through Shoham.

Doar-Tech and Virtual Post-Office
In 1998, Shoham introduced new services (named Doar-Tech services) via the Internet:
* Doar-Tech service no. 1 - Enables sending worldwide ordinary letters, registered letters and
telegrams via a dedicated Internet site: www.doar-tech.zahav.net.il or via www.postil.com
* The hybrid mail service allows printing, enveloping and mailing hundreds of copies of the same
text. The text and the mailing list can be sent to shoham via E-Mail, modem or disquette.
* Doar-Tech service no. 2 - Enables sending letters and messages (in hard copy or dictated to our 171 hotline) for delivery to an Email address.
* Doar-Tech service no. 4 - This is a virtual post-office which enables buying postal products (and
other products in the future) via the Internet site: www.postil.com
* Renewal of ”follow-me” service to a new address via the Internet site:www.postil.com
Data Distribution Services
Many organizations have data which they would like to sell or to make available either to the general public or to a specific target group. The Shoham center operates a 24-hour data center, which provides data from the Registrar of Companies, Partnerships and Business Names database. Available information on companies includes printouts of allocation of capital, shares and principal shareholders, debts for fees, encumbrances, and other data. The data is delivered by facsimile, postal courier, or by regular mail.
A total of 90,000 data transmissions were conducted via this service in 2000.
Data and Information Services
The Shoham center provides the general public with information on the Israel Postal Authority services. This information is provided via a toll-free number 1-800-21 21 21 and via 171.
Shoham has plans and the ability to provide public information services to additional clients, including municipal authorities. This service can include information on the client’s activities, as well as services and products which the client provides.
The number of times information was provided in 2000 was over 497,000 (an increase of 13%).

Order Center Services for Products, Services, and Information
Shoham provides an order center service via the 171 telephone number, as well as hotline services, including subscription orders for the national lottery, etc.
Direct Marketing of Israel Postal Authority Products
In 2000 the Shoham center has substantially increased sales of Israel Postal Authority products via telephone (03-564 3677) and via Internet (www.postil.com)
”Follow-me”, a Mail Forwarding Service for Companies and Individuals
In 2000 the ”follow-me” service for redirection of postal items to a new address has substantially increased sales. The service, directed to companies and individuals, is available via telephone
(03- 564 3643) or Internet (www.postil.com).
Development of New Services
Shoham specialises in the development of new services and in upgrading the existing ones, including doar-tech services, Internet stations in post-offices, e-mail services, messages to cellular phones, greeting cards via the Internet, etc.
